About KSU

King Saud University is an independent, non-profit academic institution, located under the umbrella of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh. It was opened on the 14th of Rabi’ al-Thani 1377 AH / November 6, 1957. It is considered the second university established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Umm al-Qura University. This was when King Abdulaziz ordered the establishment of the College of Sharia in Mecca in the year 1369 AH to become the first established university educational institution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. . Its name was changed to the University of Riyadh during the reign of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, and it was renamed King Saud University during the reign of King Khalid bin Abdulaziz, who, while sponsoring one of its closing ceremonies, decided to restore its first name, so that was it. King Saud University is the second largest university in the world in terms of area, and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has allocated to this university the equivalent of 1% of the state budget annually.

Important Guidelines

Conditions that must be met in the submitted documents

  • Attach a color copy of the original high school certificate.
  • Attach color photos of secondary school transcripts for the first, second and third grades.
• The documents submitted must be fully certified and authenticated by the following authorities:
      A) The Ministry of Education in the country from which the secondary certificate was issued or its substitute
     B) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its representative in the country from which the secondary school certificate was issued
• The documents submitted for equivalency must be free of any erasure or modification in their data, and the name of their owner must be identical to his name on his previous educational documents and in the passport.
If you do not complete the above requirements your admission application will be disqualified.

Admission requirements for the External Scholarships Program for International Students

  • The applicant must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and the overall grade should not be less than Good.
  • The duration of obtaining high school must not exceed five years.
  • The applicant’s age must not be less than (17) years and not more than twenty-five (25) years.
  • The government of the applicant’s country must agree to study in the Kingdom for countries that require this.
  • The applicant must not have previously received a scholarship at a university or educational institution in the Kingdom.
  • Certificates and documents must be authenticated by the competent authorities determined by the university.
  • The applicant must bring a certificate of freedom from the security services in his country.
  • The applicant must pass the medical examination determined by the regulations and instructions, and be medically fit and able to complete the requirements of the study program.
  • The non-Arabic speaking applicant – who is nominated for admission to one of the joint first year tracks or bachelor’s programs – will be accepted into the Diploma Program for Proficiency in the Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers at the College of Languages and Sciences. After passing the diploma program, he will be accepted into the bachelor’s program for which he is initially accepted.

Conditions and procedures for equivalency of the secondary school certificate after your admission to the university:

Submit the original academic document(s), copies of which are not accepted.
• The documents submitted must be fully certified and authenticated by the following authorities:
A) The Ministry of Education in the country from which the secondary certificate was issued or its substitute.
B) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its representative in the country from which the secondary school certificate was issued.
C) The Saudi Embassy or its representative.
If there is a cultural attaché in the country from which the document was issued, it is sufficient for him to authenticate the documents of the educational authorities of that country.
• The certificate submitted for equivalency must be free of any deletion or modification in its data, and the name of its holder must be identical to his name on his previous educational documents and in the passport.
• After arriving, the student submits a request to the General Administration for Diploma Equivalency at the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
